Diamond Price Movement in Mumbai

This is Ghansham Dholakia giving you brief information about the diamond market of Mumbai.Here is the update. The market movement has picked up and it was good. The cold market suddenly became warm and people were cheering the movement.

Stones of size -18 in the category SI2+ AND J+ showed a good demand. Similarly pointers of 0.18 to 0.46 in SI2+ AND J+ along with catagory of 0.46 to 0.96 with SI1 and GHI grade showed similar movement. The market in these categories was up by 2 to 3%. 

The category of stones above 1.0 carat with VS2 to S4 and GHI color grade showed an excellent demand. The primary reason attributed to this was the price increase in rough from the supplying company BHP. BHP has increased the prices of roughs by 2 to 9% anticipating a reasonable offtake.Price is stable in rough and polished diamond and the movement is visible. The people are getting their confidence back to trade more aggresively in the market.
